‘A benefit for all’: 40 Square announces transition to Aetna in 2021

40 Square Cooperative Solutions is embarking on a new path forward for its members for 2021.

The 40 Square board of directors and its Health Plan Trustees have announced enhancements to its members’ health plan for 2021. Effective Jan. 1, 2021, 40 Square is changing its health plan administrator from EBSO/Preferred One and pharmacy manager MedTrakRx to Aetna, a nationally renowned carrier. The transition to Aetna will provide 40 Square access to Aetna’s cost-effective network with a goal toward long-term savings for its members, along with improved customer service, said 40 Square Board Chair Robby Gieseke.

“We’re very excited to make the change to Aetna,” Gieseke said. “40 Square is constantly aiming to improve our member benefits while adding value to our members, and this move to Aetna accomplishes that goal.”

40 Square’s decision to transition to Aetna is in conjunction with the board’s steadfast commitment to its member and plan participant-focused streamlined efforts to continuously evaluate and provide the best access, service and pricing a health plan can offer.

“This new partnership with Aetna will provide an even more integrated and holistic member-service and medical support model that will achieve the best health for our population,” Gieseke said.

With this transition, members will still be able to see the same providers, as Aetna accesses Minnesota’s PreferredOne Network. 40 Square has also ensured the pharmacies its members currently use to obtain their prescriptions will continue to be available. Additionally, 40 Square members will see no changes to their elected dental, vision or life benefits, which will continue to be available through Reliance Standard. 40 Square will also continue to offer the existing seven Medical Plans with prescription drug benefits.

Members should be on the lookout in the coming week for an informational booklet with further information on the upcoming transition to Aetna in 2021.
